Disruption or maintenance of your camera system

Most malfunctions are not a defective camera but a connection, a power supply or an adjustment that has been changed. This is the order in which you can look.

Disruption or maintenance of your camera system

Camera offline or black image

First, check whether it's with one camera or with all. An offline camera usually points to the cable or the PoE port: switch the port on the recorder to rule that out. If all cameras are gone, it's down to the recorder or the power supply. A black image during the day with one camera is often caused by a lens that is fogged or dirty.

No notifications on the phone

Notifications are often lost more frequently by the phone than by the system: a battery-saving feature that pauses the app in the background, or notifications that turn off after an update. First, check the app's notification settings on your phone, then adjust the detection settings in the system.

No longer able to watch from a distance

If it works at home on Wi-Fi but not outside the door, it's either the internet connection or the account. After replacing a modem or router, the connection sometimes needs to be reestablished. Looking back at the recorder itself works fine in that situation — the footage is still there.

Maintenance that pays off

Clean the lenses once a year, especially on the side facing the wind and at the coast. Check whether the recordings are still playing and whether the storage period still matches what you want. If the system runs on a hard disk, then consider replacing it after a few years of use; a disk that fails you only notice when you need the images.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my camera offline?

First, check whether it's one camera or all of them. One offline camera usually indicates the cable or the port on the recorder; if they are all gone, it depends on the recorder or the power supply.

Why don't I get any more notifications from my camera?

Usually that's up to the phone and not the system: a battery saver that stops the app, or notifications that are turned off after an update. First check the app's notification settings on your phone.

How much maintenance does a camera system need?

Few: clean lenses once a year, especially on the weather side and at the coast, and occasionally check whether the recordings are still running. Take into account the replacement of the hard disc after a few years of operation.
