Prepare the work
Camera maintenance in your home involves the images you may need later. A camera can be online while the lens is dirty, a bush covers the passage, or the recorder does not store anything usable. Therefore, maintenance connects a physical inspection with a recording test and a check of access for residents.
What we check and deliver
View each position and ask which action should be visible there. Garden furniture, growing plants, and a new fence can change the image without the system reporting a fault. Create an up-to-date overview and note which obstacles need to be addressed. Do not immediately reconfigure all cameras: first determine why the previous angle no longer meets the requirements.
From a safe position, check for contamination, loose securing, and visible damage to cables or seals. Use the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning. A transparent cover can be damaged by improper handling or dry rubbing. Condensation behind the lens requires a different approach than dirt on the outside; have that issue investigated separately.
Check whether the recorder is now recording and whether the expected playback period is actually available. Choose a known time and evaluate the image, time, and any intended audio. View notifications about storage and available disk status. Wiping or initializing storage is not a standard maintenance procedure and does not belong to a check without a clear recovery plan.
Review the residents' accounts and shared access with the owner. An old phone or former resident may be a reason to review rights. Let the administrator explain how access is revoked and where recovery data is securely stored. Check settings with a regular user account so that not only the installer's capabilities are tested.
Note current versions and evaluate applicable manufacturer updates for the exact models. Save the relevant configuration before changes are performed and choose a suitable maintenance time. Check recorder coupling, recording and daily use again after an update. Changing a version without testing the functionality afterward can actually make a maintenance visit unclear.
Record what has been seen, tested, and adjusted for each camera. Make a distinction between a resolved problem and a recommendation that still requires a choice. Agree on which change is the reason for an additional check, such as exterior work, a new router, or modified garden lighting. The check frequency follows circumstances and usage, not from a single general interval for each home.
