Replacing an XVR with an NVR is not always a simple recorder switch. An XVR can use analog camera channels that do not connect directly in the same way as a standard NVR. Therefore, first create an overview per camera.
Note per channel the camera model, cable type, and the way the image enters. An XVR can process different types of cameras depending on the model. The word network on the recorder does not mean that all connected cameras are already IP cameras.
Determine which camera positions, equipment, and cable routing are suitable for the new setup. Discuss any revenue-generating equipment only as a concrete, supported solution. Do not only ask whether image will be produced, but also what quality and features will remain available after conversion.
The NVR must be able to record the desired number of IP channels and the corresponding streams. Include network connections, power and storage in the selection. A recorder with the same number on the box does not automatically have the same connection possibilities as the old XVR.
Make controlled exports of fragments that remain needed. Do not assume that the old disc is readable in the new recorder without adjustment. Agree on what will happen with the old equipment and at what time the recording will be temporarily interrupted.
Compare each new channel with the agreed function. Test live view, recording, playback, and access on the phone. Record which old components were retained and which functions were changed. This way, the transition is evaluated on the new complete system, not just on starting up the NVR.
Not without appropriate conversion or replacement. Let each channel determine which signal is being used.
Suitability and readability must be checked. Export important images in advance and do not confirm formatting action without a data plan.
