An indoor camera can clearly capture the entrance or storage room. First, choose which action you want to see and at what times recording is needed. This also determines whether a fixed wall mount or a movable model is suitable for use.
Create a simple sketch of the space with doors, walking paths, and the location of valuable items. A camera that tries to show the entire room can provide little detail on the most important point. Determine whether you want to see mainly the entrance, a counter, or a closet. Leave private spaces outside the design and discuss the camera usage with involved users.
Cabinets, open doors, and plants can block a camera. Therefore, place a test camera in the intended location while the room is normally furnished. Also, examine the effect of a clear window in the background and the lights used in the evening. Moving furniture should later be the reason to recheck the image.
A available wall socket makes a position practical, but does not yet solve the network connection problem. Check the operation at that exact location for a Wi-Fi model. A wired camera requires a suitable route to the network equipment. Route the power cable so that doors, drawers, and daily use do not draw power.
Determine who is allowed to watch live, who can search for recordings, and who manages settings. These are not necessarily the same people. Investigate what options the model has for this and use the own account function where it is available. A shared password makes it difficult to revoke access later per user.
Leave the room, come back in and find that moment again on the device you will be using. Then check whether the time setting and chosen recording method match the appointment. For a request for assistance, a room sketch, a photo of the mounting location, and the model number are more useful than just the message that you want to bring a camera inside.
Some models are made for this purpose. Check whether the position remains stable and does not change due to objects or movement.
That must be tested at the installation site. Walls, distance and the location of network equipment can make a difference.
