A screen at the counter and a screen in the office may require different images. Two connections on a recorder do not automatically mean two independently controlled displays. Start with a description of what should be visible on each screen.
Write on each screen which cameras should be visible and whether anyone else is also looking back at them. Displaying the same overview on two places is a different task than showing live footage on one screen and recordings on the other. This distinction determines which output or additional viewing provision may be needed.
Review the specifications of the available video outputs and supported combinations. Some models may have limitations on simultaneous output or resolution. Let the exact recorder and monitors be evaluated together. The presence of HDMI and VGA alone is insufficient to promise independent operation.
Measure the route from recorder to each screen. Also consider the position of the mouse or other controls when someone needs to search for recordings. A video connection to another room does not automatically control that control. Discuss whether a local outlet, network client, or other supported solution best suits the distance.
A publicly visible screen has a different purpose than a management screen behind a closed door. Consciously choose which channels and menus should be displayed there. Check whether a back‑view action or management notification appears unwanted on the other screen. Test this with the users who operate the screens daily.
Display the desired overlays simultaneously and perform a back-and-forth action where necessary. Also check the behavior after a screen is restarted. Note which output setting belongs to which screen, so that a replacement later does not lead to searching for the correct image format.
A simple splitter duplicates the same signal. For independent overviews, a solution that explicitly supports that is needed.
