A carport, balcony, row house, villa or apartment complex requires a different route and access assessment. The type of property is only the beginning; the own sightline and responsibilities determine the installation.
At an apartment or student house, entrance and cable route can be shared. At a villa, farmhouse or recreational home, however, larger distances, outbuildings or periods without presence play a greater role. A camera must always remain focused on its own task.
Include the front door, rear, yard, balcony, storage area, and any shared areas. Look at the installation space, lighting, accessibility, existing wiring, and who gives permission for a technical route. Then determine where overview and where detail are needed.
Choose targeted positions for the relevant access and establish privacy boundaries in advance. Use a second camera when one wide-angle shot simultaneously needs to monitor the own route and provide a recognizable detail.
Test the image from the actual walking route during day and night. Check recordings, notifications, and the regular app or recorder actions, and make it clear for shared properties who is the administrator and which access each person has.
For shared areas, responsibilities and consent must be clearly stated in advance. Additionally, focus on the relevant access and limit unnecessary images.
