NVR recorder

Channel capacity, supported cameras, bandwidth, discs and recording schedule are checked together. A free connection point does not prove that the recorder still has capacity for the desired additional camera stream.

The recorder is connected and tested by looking back and exporting a test recording.

Can the recorder really record the chosen cameras?

The number of network connections is not the same as the recording capacity. Check the channel count, supported cameras, incoming bandwidth, and suitable storage in the model's documentation. Also, a camera that provides live footage must still be able to be recorded and played back at the desired resolution.

Planning the work

Replace a disk only after important images have been safely saved; initializing can erase existing data.

A larger disk only extends the storage time within the capacity and settings supported by the recorder.

Information for a suitable proposal

Note the record model, the camera models, the existing drives, and the desired recording duration. Indicate whether the cameras are connected directly to PoE ports or via a separate switch. This determines which network connection should be checked.

Checks at handover

Check disk status and recording schedule per channel.

Play simultaneous recordings from multiple cameras back.

Export a short fragment and check if the file opens.
