ColorVu is focused on capturing color information in low light. Its usability also depends on the scene, lighting, and camera performance. A nighttime color image is only valuable when the desired detail remains visible.
Consider clothing at an entrance or a vehicle on your own property. Choose the point where that information is meaningful. A large overview may show less detail than a focused depiction of the passage. Establish the purpose before you choose solely on resolution.
ColorVu comes in various configurations. On models with hybrid lighting, modes may be available that handle infrared and visible light differently.
