Camera keeps restarting

A missing app icon does not automatically trigger a camera restart. Look for recurring startup signals or a restart notification in the device log. Only when that distinction is clear can you conduct a focused investigation of the power supply and device settings.

Camera keeps restarting

Collect proof of the restart

Note if lights, startup sound, or a motoric initial movement appear repeatedly. Use the operating duration or device log where available. Compare the times with the recording. Also describe whether the recorder itself continues to work, so that a disruption of the entire system is not mistaken for a single faulty camera.

Check if a schedule is active

Check if there is a scheduled restart or maintenance task set up. A interruption at a fixed time should first be verified. Record the existing setting before changing it. A scheduled restart may be explainable, but a device that continues to restart afterward still requires further investigation.

Compare power supply with the moment of failure

Note whether night lighting, heating or motor movement becomes active just before the interruption. For PoE, assess the budget and cable routing; for an adapter, the appropriate power supply and connection. Do not use any random power supply as a test. The purpose is a controlled comparison to determine a cause.

Bring recent interventions with you

Mention a software update, new memory card, other cable or extension on the same switch. This allows the technician to compare directly with the latest stable state. Do not start with multiple resets or firmware files one after another immediately. This makes it harder to see which change is associated with the complaint and which settings should be retained.

Assess stability under the same load

Allow the camera to operate after repair during the time when the loop started earlier. Check the new recording for interruptions and note the observed operating duration. A single startup image does not yet mean the fault is over. Keep the tested power supply and relevant changes with the maintenance records.

Frequently asked questions

Does a restart loop prove that the camera is broken?

No. power supply and configuration can also play a role. The cause must be investigated.

Can I test by repeatedly pulling the plug to see if it gets better?

This provides little comparable information. First, establish the pattern and follow a targeted diagnosis.
