A camera can capture the correct event with the wrong time displayed on the screen. This makes retrieval confusing. Not only check the clock on the screen, but also what time the recorder uses when saving and searching.
Note the actual time, the time shown in the camera footage, and the time at which the recorder retrieves the clip. Create an example of this without unnecessary personal information. This way, you can distinguish between an abnormal image text and an abnormal timeline.
A correct hour today can still be incorrect after a seasonal change if the time zone or daylight saving time settings do not match. Check the manual to see how the model combines these settings. Do not only manually correct the hour without reviewing the underlying setting.
The camera and recorder may have their own time settings. Determine which synchronization the available equipment supports and which source is used for it. A network connection does not automatically mean that the time source is accessible. Record which component provides the time and check whether the other devices are following.
Note the old deviation and the moment you corrected it. If you later look for an event from the period before the change, that note helps you find the correct fragment. Do not assume that old recordings will automatically receive a corrected time.
Let someone walk briefly through the image at a scheduled time and find it again. Check the image text and timeline again. Perform this check on multiple channels if the system uses multiple cameras; one correct clock does not prove that all cameras are synchronized.
