Wi-Fi provides the wireless network connection of a suitable camera. It does not indicate how the camera receives power or where images are stored. Record those three components separately before you begin: network, power supply, and recording.
Read which Wi-Fi frequency bands and security settings the exact model supports. A network on which your phone works is not automatically suitable for every camera device. Also check whether a guest network restricts the connection to a local recorder or other viewing device. Do not change the security of the entire network without understanding what the camera needs.
Follow the official procedure for first use. Some devices use their own app for this, while others require a temporary local connection. Keep the camera accessible as long as the pairing is not completed. Distinguish between the app account, the device password, and the Wi-Fi password; an error message when logging in does not indicate that the radio signal is too weak.
With a camera with an adapter, a suitable connection must also be available at the final location. When using a battery-powered camera, charging times and recording behavior are considered when selecting. Therefore, do not describe every Wi-Fi camera as completely cable-free. Determine the mounting location only when daily use of the power supply is feasible.
Test with the camera at the intended height and with doors and windows in their normal positions. View a moving subject and look for the corresponding recording. A short, working static image next to the router is not a good final check. Note or record any interruptions when a door closes or other equipment is used intensively.
Let the location of the access point and the cable route to it be assessed. An additional wireless device is not necessarily the best placement choice. When requesting assistance, bring a simple map and the distance to the camera. Also indicate where recordings are stored: a connection that only slows down the app can ask for something different than a connection that interrupts the recording.
That depends on the power supply. Wifi describes the network connection; the camera may still need an adapter.
First connect around and complete a practical test on the mounting place, so that range and power supply have been checked.
