With a Hikvision camera on a Dahua NVR, three questions are important: can the recorder reach the camera, can it log in, and can it process the selected video stream? Investigate them in that order. This way, you won't change detection rules to resolve a connection problem.
A camera behind an external switch can have a different network route than a camera on an integrated PoE port. Note where the cable ends and which address the camera uses. Avoid a duplicate IP address. Configure network access to be directed; a local camera pairing does not require randomly opening router ports to the internet.
Compare the ONVIF profiles of the exact Hikvision model and Dahua recorder. Research in the camera manual or a service should be enabled and how the intended user is managed. An account for a phone app is not without the account with which a recorder logs in to the camera. Keep access securely with the installation data.
After adding, check which channel and stream have been selected. Record a short test passage and find it back on the NVR. When the playback window is black, compare, among other things, the codec, resolution, and recording settings with what the recorder supports. Change one component at a time, so it remains clear which adjustment had an effect.
A brand-specific analysis function does not need to be available in the same way in the other recorder. Perform the desired event, search for the recording, and check for any notifications. Agree on what the user will see in which app or recorder moving forward. Also note who manages updates: a change on one device can be an occasion to test the pairing again.
Discovery can vary depending on the network segment and protocol. First, check the actual connection and reachability before concluding that the camera is not supported.
Do not assume that. Support for images and support for specific events are separate checks for the concrete combination.
