A second computer can become a separate viewing area without moving the recorder. The required access depends on what the user needs to be able to do: only watch, retrieve recordings, or export files. Set that up before software and accounts are configured.
Note the operating system, recorder, and software that are already in use. Download the necessary client software exclusively through an official or manufacturer-designated source. Do not rely on an old browser plugin as a general solution for a new computer.
Is the computer on the same network as the recorder or at a different location? Determine which supported access route is being used. Do not randomly copy old network addresses or open router ports to bypass an error message. The connection must match the existing management.
Provide the user with the necessary channels and features with the system's account capabilities. A view does not need to automatically receive administrative permissions. Document who can adjust access and how that access will be revoked later.
Open live view, search for a previously existing clip, and create a test export if that is required for the role. A working live display does not prove that playback rights or export playback are in order. Test multiple channels if the user needs to be able to view different spaces.
Determine where downloads and exports go and who manages that folder. On a shared computer, attention to logging in and logging out is also required. Keep the viewing settings for the viewing area during the transfer, without including passwords in a document that is generally accessible.
Not automatically. A supported client can view images from the existing recorder, within its capabilities and capacity.
Use separate users with appropriate rights where possible. This makes management and withdrawal of access clearer.
